Rangers Walkoff Red Sox (8/13/10)

For the second straight game the Boston Red Sox lost on a walkoff. This time the Texas Rangers did the honors against the Boston bullpen that gagged a three run lead. Felix Doubront and Daniel Bard coughed up the game leading to the 11th inning. Tim Wakefield got taken deep by Nelson Cruz to end the game. The Rangers had won it 10-9 at Arlington Park.

Tommy Hunter got the Sox to beat the ball in the dirt in the top of the first when Jacoby Ellsbury grounded back to the mound to start. Marco Scutaro grounded out to short and Victor Martinez grounded out to second to end the inning. Josh Beckett got tagged in the bottom of the first as Elvis Andrus grounded back to the mound to start. Michael Young took strike three but Josh Hamilton singled to left. Vladimir Guerrero singled to right and Michael Cruz singled past Beckett to score Hamilton. David Murphy walked and Bengie Molina struck out swinging to end the inning with the Rangers up 1-0.

David Ortiz grounded out to short to start the top of the second and Adrian Beltre popped up to second. JD Drew singled in the hole at second and Mike Lowell singled to right, but Ryan Kalish flied out to left to end the inning. The Rangers struck again in the bottom of the second as Mitch Moreland singled to left to start. Andres Blanco grounded out to second to move Moreland to second and Andrus got a base hit to center to score Mitch. Young grounded into a double play to end the inning with the Rangers up 2-0.

Nelson Cruz homered off Wakefield to end the game. The Rangers had won it 10-9.

The loss dropped the Sox to 66-51, 6 games behind the Yankees for first place in the AL East. The Sox look to bounce back tomorrow against the Rangers when Jon Lester (12-7) takes on Colby Lewis of Texas. The game begins at 9:00 PM Eastern time at Arlington Park.
