Giolito Out For The Year (3/5/24)

Just when you think things couldn't get any worse for the Boston Red Sox....they did. The only free agent the Sox signed this off-season for $38 million tore his UCL and might need Tommy John surgery which would end not only this season but mostly next season as well. So much for Giolito.
                                                                     Out for the season

Not only did the Red Sox pretty much bank their entire season on Giolito being healthy, Sam Kennedy openly admitted putting Sox GM Craig Breslow on a budget. Now the Sox need another starter and agent Scott Boras is most certainly going to jack up the price for his free agent client Jordan Montgomery. The chances of Sox getting Blake Snell and Montgomery are now pretty much dead. Thanks a lot John Henry.

The worst part is Giolito has been a durable starter for the last six years, the reason why they signed him, and he blows his elbow out in spring training with the Red Sox. This franchise might be cursed again only with the Curse of Mookie rather than Babe Ruth.

Fenway might be empty come June.
