Its a miracle! The Boston Red Sox finally defeated the New York Yankees. Granted, the Sox almost blew an 8-2 lead and still managed to look pathetic against the Yankees but somehow they held on to win. The Sox got to the ancient CC Sabathia early and David Price (3-2, 2.83 ERA) pitched his best game in Yankee Stadium ever. Then Matt Barnes decided to give up 3 runs in the rain before the Sox held on to salvage the series with an 8-5 win at Yankee Stadium.

Final Thoughts:
Wow, they actually beat the Yankees for once. Its nice to see Price get over the hump even if it was just a regular season game in the beginning of June. Hopefully the Sox can ride this momentum into Kansas City and go on a nice long winning streak to get back into the AL East race. The offense seems to be coming around but the bullpen is ridiculous. Matt Barnes gives up 3 runs in an inning, are you kidding me? Still, if the Sox can get their heads out of their behinds from here on in, there should be no reason they won't be four-peating as division champions this October. The win put the Sox back over .500 at 30-29, 8.5 games behind the Yankees for first place in the AL East. After an off-day Monday the Sox are back on the road Tuesday night in Kansas City to face the Royals. Glenn Sparkman goes for the Royals with Eduardo Rodriguez (5-3, 5.04 ERA) going for Boston at 8:10 PM at Kauffman Stadium.
