Final Thoughts:
That was a big win for the Sox as they were 9 outs away from being swept out of Fenway by the worthless Rockies. The real story of the game was Garrett Whitlock's second straight strong start. The Sox went cheap by signing Corey Kluber and converting Whitlock to a starter and both moves looked like disasters, until now. If Whitlock found his groove that might be a difference maker moving forward. Verdugo and Refsnyder stepped up big tonight and even though they beat the lowly Rockies, comeback wins are always fun. They're still a mile behind in the division standings but a comeback has to start somewhere. The win improved the Sox to 34-35, good for last place in the AL East. After an off-day tomorrow the Sox are back in action Friday night at home against the New York Yankees. Tanner Houck goes for Boston against Domingo German of New York. The game begins at 7:10 PM at Fenway Park.
