Its an off-day and the Worcester Red Sox made some roster moves earlier this week. Worcester released relief pitchers Jose Adames and Wyatt Mills on August 3rd. Adames was a career minor leaguer that was awful for the Worcester Red Sox....in 2021. He got another shot this year and was equally terrible going 3-2 with a 6.69 ERA. Its time to retire. Mills was the guy the Sox sent Jacob Wallace to Kansas City for in the 2022 off-season and he missed the 2023 and 2024 seasons recovering from Tommy John surgery. He was 4-2 with a 3.12 ERA but wanted to seek his fortunes elsewhere. With the Sox loaded with pitching help not just in Boston but in Worcester with Kyle Harrison, Payton Tolle and Connelly Early, Mills was expendable. Better luck with his next team.
Bye byeIn other news, Jorge Alcala was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals off waivers from the Red Sox. The Cards hope they can harness the 99 mph fastball better than the Red Sox could.
Bye bye AlcalaAlso the Sox didn't learn their lesson with Kristian Campbell as they signed Roman Anthony to an 8 year contract extension that keeps him on the team until 2033....which we all know he'll be traded long before that since we all saw what came of Rafael Devers.
Here's a picture of Tomo Ohka for absolutely no reason.
"Hello" - TOThe Sox are back in action tomorrow night in San Diego to take on Xander Bogaerts and the Padres. Walker Buehler (6-6) takes on old buddy Nick Pivetta. The game begins at 9:40 PM eastern time at Petco Park.
