Before the game the Boston Red Sox got some news. Jedixson Paez, the former Sox prospect that made his ML debut with the Chicago White Sox has been returned to Boston. Why Chicago decided to have Paez pitch despite never reaching Double A is anyone's guess, but he's back.
From Single A to MLBAs for the game, the natives are getting restless. Boston Red Sox fans began chanting "sell the team" in the ninth inning of today's game against the San Diego Padres. After what transpired the last few years, who can blame them? The 130 million dollar man Ranger Suarez failed to hold a 4-0 lead that the Sox put up. In the bottom of the fifth, the Padres knocked out Suarez and Manny Machado hit a 3 run blast off of Greg Weissert to put SD up 6-4. The Sox tied the game in the bottom of the seventh but Jackson Merill hit a home run off Tyler Uberstine to put SD up for good. The Sox failed to rally in the ninth and the Padres had won 8-6 at Fenway Park.

Greg Weissert came in and Laureano struck out swinging before Tatis Jr did the same. All of a sudden Merrill singled to center and Machado hit a home run all the way to the Klingon Homeworld to put the Padres up for good. Andujar struck out swinging to end the inning but it was 6-4 San Diego.

Final Thoughts:
Things are going down hill fast and the season has just started. Not a single off-season addition worked out as Johan Oviedo has gotten hurt, Ranger Suarez has been horrible, Sonny Gray has been mediocre and Chad Durbin has been an unmitigated disaster. The fans are getting restless and they have every reason to be. A lot of them deserved this for supporting the front office after the Rafael Devers trade but those that knew it was a bad trade, also knew this was going to happen. You don't lose two power bats and expect to put up the same or better numbers. They're going to have to out pitch teams and so far they haven't. There's still plenty of times to turn things around but it doesn't look good. The Sox now welcome in the Milwaukee Brewers for a three game set beginning tomorrow night. Brayan Bello takes on Brandon Woodruff of the Brewers at 6:45 PM at Fenway Park.
