Final Thoughts:

The Sox continue to be absolutely frustrating on the offensive side of the ball. How they keep getting shut down by mediocre pitchers are an indictment on this coaching staff. Its inexcusable how the Sox hitters come to the park unprepared and overmatched by just about everyone they face. The worst part is, their incompetence took a much deserved win away from Ranger Suarez. After looking lousy in his first two starts, Suarez has been arguably their best pitcher since but has nothing to show for it due to no run support. Chapman and Whitlock once again were an important 1-2 punch but it doesn't matter most of the time if you can't score. Red Sox manager Alex Cora did push the right button by having Yoshida pinch hit in the 10th but what does hitting coach Pete Fatse actually do? Still, it was a good win with shutdown pitching and a timely hit in the end. Doesn't matter if you win 1-0 or 10-0 as long as you get the W. The Sox look to make it two wins in a row against the Tigers tomorrow afternoon when Brayan Bello (1-1, 6.14 ERA) matches up against Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. The game begins at 4:10 PM at Fenway Park.
