Final Thoughts:
The lack of clutch hitting burned the Sox again and yet another error as well. The Hamilton error led to the Devers home run but at the same time, some better offense wins the game. The Sox had the go-ahead run on in the ninth and couldn't get it in. Eaton came in and made a great play but Mayer and Gonzalez couldn't get it done. If the Sox hadn't traded Devers, maybe someone else might have been in that spot. Either way the Sox are still 3-2 since the trade and have a chance to win the series tomorrow. The Sox need to find a bat with Devers gone, Alex Bregman hurt and Triston Casas out for the season. Either way the Sox look to be in trouble offensively. The loss dropped the Sox to 40-38, 5 games behind the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East. The Sox look to bounce back tomorrow afternoon when Lucas Giolito takes on Robbie Ray of San Francisco. The game begins at 4:05 PM Eastern time at Oracle Park.
