Final Thoughts:
Rumors are swirling that the Red Sox are going to be sellers at the trade deadline if things keep going the way they are and it's tough to argue. This year has been a disaster and Buehler is front and center of it. Max Fried was the big fish in the pond and the Sox banked on Buehler, the results speak for themselves. On top of that, after the Kansas City trip, ownership isn't happy with Rafael Devers for telling John Henry to stick it in his ear after they told him "you WILL play first base". The Sox could have avoided all this by just getting another first baseman after Triston Casas went down. Everything is going to hell real quick and the worst part is there's still 97 games left of torture to go. The Sox tried to rally in this one but the bullpen allowing the final two runs is a big reason why they couldn't. The Sox are playing 8 more games against the Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays, it might be time to close up shop after the Rays and Yankees pound them into oblivion. The loss dropped the Sox to 30-35, 10.5 games behind the Yankees for first place in the AL East. The Sox look to rebound tomorrow night when Garrett Crochet (5-4) takes on Ryan Yarbrough of New York. The game begins at 7:30 PM at Yankee Stadium.
